Fred O'Neal

I grew up outside of Cleveland, OH. I studied at the University of Toledo and hold a BA in Mechanical Engineering. I met my wife in 2008 after I had been working in Chicago for a few years. We moved to Nashville, TN shortly thereafter to see where that path could take us. I really had no idea at the time what kind of engineering or music I wanted to pursue, so Nashville seemed like a fine place to try as much as I could. I worked so many musicians and worked on so many side jobs trying to gain traction. It wasn’t until a few more years went by that I realized I had also developed a strong skillset within producing and recording. Around this time we moved back to Chicago to start our own family. My wife and I welcomed our first son in 2013 and our second in 2014! Having my boys really encouraged me to pursue everything I had energy for! So while I developed as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry, I started a couple more music projects in Chicago and kept up the writing and recording relationships I developed in Nashville. I love generating ideas myself from scratch or developing compositions alongside others. I simply love the process of creating - whether it be a component for an airplane or a new 808 bass preset. I truly feel excited and privileged when I get to share the creative process with my peers or clients.

We recently moved to the Rochester area and welcomed our third child, another boy! We are excited for a new chapter in life where we can escape city life and take in more of the nature around us. So far we LOVE it!!
